The Public Studio is a cross-form artistic and entrepreneurial enterprise that works predominantly out of Melbourne, Australia.

Comprising a group of artists and creatives who practice across form and media, The Public Studio’s works include but are not exclusive to: theatre, performance/live art, film and installation. They find places where these practices meet to create new art projects, while we also build breakthrough creative business ventures.

The Public Studio was founded and is helmed by artistic directors, Ming-Zhu Hii & Nicholas Coghlan (originally as The Melbourne Town Players in 2009). They both graduated in 2002 from The Victorian College of the Arts, and the National Institute of Dramatic Art respectively, and have been working professionally in and around the theatre, film and television and broader creative arts industries for over a decade.
